Young Green Frog on Lily Pad

Young Green Frog on Lily Pad, by Mary Stebbins Taitt.

You can tell this is a green frog, Rana clamitans, although it looks a little like a bull frog, because of the "seam" that starts at the eye and moves abck toward the "tail." This is a female; the males have larger ears. I love their golden eyes!

How sweet!
Looks so cute on the big leave.
I love frogs and this looks nearly like the European common frog.

Haven't seen any frogs in New Zealand yet. Seems I have a lot to discover :-)

Have you then not been in New Zealand long? I understand it is very pretty there.

The frog does look a bit like that frog, doesn't it.

This one's nose is a bit blunter than most of our green frogs. I think that's partly why at looks a little liek a bull frog.

We immigrated three and a half years ago BUT haven't seen much from the country yet.
It is beautiful but I still miss a lot like my beloved European birds, butterflies, woodland creatures and some plants.
However it is cool to finally be able to watch monarch butterflies and birds we don't have in Austria :-)
If you like you can find some pics of New Zealand on my blog, there is also a link to our photo albums.
